Class Types | Growth Mindset Collective
We believe jiu jitsu is for everyone—but not everyone has the same goals. That’s why our group membership includes class types tailored to different paths: parents training with their kids (Family Jiu Jitsu), beginners building fundamentals (Adult Gi), no-gi submission wrestlers who love fast scrambles (Adult No Gi), kids by age for safety and focus, and a competition track with targeted rounds and seasonal prep. Pick your lane now, mix or switch as you grow.

Adult Jiu Jitsu — No Gi

Classes vs. Courses (What’s the difference?)
Not sure where to start? If you want structure and a small training group, pick a semi-private 10-week course (ideal for brand-new students). Prefer flexibility and momentum? Jump into year-round group classes now—you can always add a course later. Many students do both for faster progress.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can beginners start anytime?
Yes. Group classes are open-enrollment and beginner-friendly.
Gi or no-gi—where should I start?
If you want classic fundamentals and grips, start Gi. If you prefer faster scrambles and wrestling feel, start No Gi. Many students do both.
Do I need a uniform?
For Gi, we’ll size you (loaners available for the intro). For No Gi, wear a rashguard and shorts/leggings with no pockets or zippers.
Is sparring required?
We introduce live rounds gradually. Safety first, with positional sparring before full rounds.
Do you have a competition path?
Yes. We run seasonal competition prep and targeted rounds. Ask your coach when you’re ready.
Should I start with group classes or a semi-private course?
Both work—choose based on your goals and timing. Semi-private 10-week courses are small-group, fast-track learning with a fixed start/end. Group classes are open-enrollment, year-round, great for building consistency and community.
What if the course I want isn’t available right now?
Jump into group classes now to build fundamentals and momentum, then enroll in the next course cycle when it opens. We’ll help you transition smoothly.
I’m brand new to jiu jitsu—what’s the best starting point?
Our Beginner Course is the best intro on the planet: structured, safe, and results-driven. If it’s not currently open, start in group classes or ask about a private lesson to get you up to speed.
