Your Questions Answered

At Growth Mindset Collective – Jiu Jitsu, we understand that starting something new can be daunting. Here, we address common questions about our training methods, class structures, and what you can expect as a new student. Our goal is to ensure you feel informed and excited about your journey with us.
  • What kind of training do you offer?

We teach Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a focus on self-defense and small group instruction. Students can enroll in 10-week beginner courses or ongoing memberships.

  • Can I start if I’m out of shape or have no experience?

Absolutely. All of our programs are beginner-friendly. We meet you where you are.

  • How do the 10-week courses work?

Courses follow a clear weekly curriculum with optional digital training and newsletters. You can join mid-cycle and complete the loop at your pace.

  • Do I need a gi?

No gi is required for the Anti-Bullying or Women’s Self-Defense courses. All other jiu jitsu programs (kids or adult memberships) do require a gi. We sell high-quality gis on-site, and profits support our scholarship fund.

  • What if I want to compete?

You can join our seasonal Competition Prep Program if invited. It’s a great way to push your training to the next level with focused coaching and high-level drilling.
