Jiu Jitsu Competition Scholarship Program
For the Athlete Who Wants to See How Far They Can Go
Some people enjoy Jiu Jitsu.
Some people love Jiu Jitsu.
And every once in a while, there is someone who wants to dedicate themselves to it.
The Growth Mindset Collective Jiu Jitsu Competition Scholarship was created for that person.
This scholarship is designed for a student with the drive, discipline, work ethic, and ambition to pursue Jiu Jitsu competition at the highest level.
Someone who doesn't simply want to compete.
Someone who aspires to become a World Champion.
More Than a Scholarship
This isn't simply a free membership.
It's an investment in an athlete.
When Growth Mindset Collective selects a Competition Scholarship recipient, we are making a commitment to pour our knowledge, time, coaching, and resources into helping that athlete become the best Jiu Jitsu competitor they are capable of becoming.
Coach Mark has spent nearly two decades studying, training, competing, and teaching Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
For the right student, he is willing to put everything he has learned into their development.
- Technical development.
- Competition strategy.
- Strengths and weaknesses.
- Training habits.
- Tournament preparation.
- Mindset.
- Accountability.
- And the countless small adjustments that happen over years of training together.
There are no guarantees in competition. No coach can promise that someone will become a World Champion.
But we can make sure the athlete who earns this opportunity has a team willing to give them the best chance possible.
We Are Looking for Something Different
Talent matters. But talent alone isn't what we're looking for. We're looking for the student who stays after class. The student who wants another round. The student who listens when they're coached. The student who loses a match and comes back wanting to understand why. The student who understands that becoming great at something requires doing difficult things over and over again. We're looking for someone who genuinely loves Jiu Jitsu and wants to discover just how good they can become.
We're looking for:
Ambition
You have serious competitive goals and aspire to compete at the highest levels of Jiu Jitsu.
Consistency
You show up. Training isn't something you do only when it's convenient.
Coachability
You listen, ask questions, make adjustments, and trust the development process.
Work Ethic
You're willing to do the work when nobody is watching.
Resilience
Competition includes losses, difficult training sessions, injuries, setbacks, and disappointment. How you respond matters.
Character
How you treat your teammates matters just as much as how you perform in competition.
Commitment to the Team
You're not developing alone. You're part of Growth Mindset Collective, and your teammates are part of your success.
Our Commitment to You
If you're selected for the Competition Scholarship, Growth Mindset Collective is making a serious commitment to your development.
We will challenge you.
We will coach you.
We will identify weaknesses and work to turn them into strengths.
We will help you prepare for competition and continue adjusting your training as you develop.
We will celebrate your victories—but we will care just as much about what we can learn from your losses.
We will hold you accountable when you're capable of more.
And we'll continue investing in you as long as you continue demonstrating that you're willing to invest in yourself and your team.
If you give us everything you've got, we'll give you everything we've got.
Your Commitment to Growth Mindset Collective
A scholarship athlete isn't simply receiving something from the academy.
You become an important part of the team.
We expect the same energy and commitment from our scholarship athlete that our coaches are putting into developing them.
That means consistently attending training, taking competition preparation seriously, supporting your teammates, representing Growth Mindset Collective with character and good sportsmanship, and contributing positively to the culture of the academy.
As you develop, younger and newer students will look up to you.
- Help them.
- Train with them.
- Encourage them.
- Be the teammate you would want beside you while chasing your own goals.
- Your success should make the people around you better, too.
What Does the Scholarship Include?
The exact support provided through the Competition Scholarship may vary depending on the athlete's age, experience, competitive level, and individual development plan.
Scholarship support may include academy membership, additional competition training, individualized coaching and mentorship, tournament preparation, and other opportunities determined by Growth Mindset Collective.
The scholarship is reviewed periodically and is contingent upon the athlete continuing to meet the expectations of the program.
Receiving a scholarship does not guarantee competitive results, tournament placement, belt promotion, sponsorship, or advancement to any particular level.
What we can promise is our effort.
Who Should Apply?
You do not need to already be the best competitor in the room.
We're interested in potential—but even more interested in what you're willing to do with it.
This program may be a fit if you:
- Love Jiu Jitsu and want it to become a major part of your life.
- Have serious competitive aspirations.
- Want to train consistently and frequently.
- Are willing to be coached and held accountable.
- Understand that development takes years, not weeks.
- Want to represent Growth Mindset Collective in competition.
- Want to contribute to the team while pursuing your individual goals.
For youth applicants, the athlete's family must also understand and support the commitment involved in competitive Jiu Jitsu, including consistent training and competition participation.
This Isn't About Being Able to Afford Jiu Jitsu
The Competition Scholarship isn't designed simply as a discounted membership or financial-assistance program.
It's about identifying someone we believe is worth investing in.
Financial circumstances may be considered, but the defining factor is the athlete's commitment, character, potential, and desire to pursue competitive Jiu Jitsu seriously.
There may be other ways we can help families experiencing temporary financial hardship. The Competition Scholarship serves a different purpose.
This is athlete development.

Let's Find Out How Good You Can Become.
World Champions aren't created by a scholarship.
They're created through thousands of hours of training, coaching, sacrifice, failure, adjustment, discipline, and an uncommon willingness to keep going.
We're looking for an athlete who understands that.
If that's you, we want to hear from you.
