Coach Mark has shared his passion for jiu jitsu all across the Bay Area, teaching at respected academies like Six Blades Oakland, Gracie Fighter Brentwood, Tapout Fitness in Alameda, and 610 Academy in Richmond. Now, he’s brought that experience home—right here to Oakley, CA. Come train with us at our new location in the Cypress Square Shopping Center.

Head Jiu Jitsu Coach

Mark immersed himself in high-level jiu jitsu in Richmond, Oakland, and Berkeley. He earned his black belt under 5-time world champion Eduardo Rocha and spent over two decades honing his skills on and off the mats.

Sabrina Smith

Homeschool Program Director

Sabrina pursued a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology and became a collegiate-level teacher in health, wellness, and movement. Her passion for holistic living and education now shapes everything we do at Growth Mindset Collective.

We’re Coach Mark and Coach Sabrina — and this is our hometown. We both grew up in Oakley, CA, before heading to the Bay Area to chase growth in our respective fields.  After years of developing ourselves, we chose to come back to Oakley to raise and homeschool our own kids, and to build something meaningful for families in this community.


That’s what Growth Mindset Collective is all about: homegrown training with world-class instruction.

Landmarks & Parking Tips


We are located in the Raley’s Shopping Center on Main Street in Oakley, on the veterinarian and dollar store side of the plaza. Raley’s is the large grocery store in the center of the shopping center.  Look for our academy toward the side of the parking lot that has Taco Bell.


There is plenty of free parking available in the shopping center lot. For easiest access, park near the veterinarian or dollar store and enter through the main walkway — our door is clearly marked with the Growth Mindset Collective logo.

Getting Here


  • From Brentwood: Take Brentwood Blvd heading west toward Oakley. Continue straight as it becomes Main Street — we’re located on Main Street in the Raley’s Shopping Center.
  • From Antioch: Head east on Highway 4 toward Oakley. Take the Main St. exit, turn right and look for the Taco Bell in the Cypress Square Shopping Center.  We're behind Taco Bell next to a veterinarian's office.
  • From Bethel Island: Cross the Bethel Island Bridge, then turn right on Cypress Road. Continue into Oakley, then turn right on Main Street — our academy will be on your left in the shopping center with Raley's Grocery Store.
  • From Knightsen: Travel west on Delta Road toward Oakley.  Turn right onto Brentwood Blvd, which will become Main Street — you’ll see the Raley’s Shopping Center on your left.
  • From Discovery Bay: Take Highway 4 west toward Brentwood. Turn right on Balfour Road, then left on Brentwood Blvd heading into Oakley. Continue onto Main Street and look for us in the Cypress Square Shopping Center on the side that has the dollar store.
