Jiu-Jitsu for Women, Taught by Women
There is something different about having the opportunity to learn and train alongside other women.
Our Women’s Jiu-Jitsu class creates a welcoming environment where you can develop real Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills, challenge yourself, ask questions, and progress at your own pace.
You’ll learn techniques that can help you:
- Build practical self-defense skills
- Improve strength and conditioning
- Develop balance, coordination, and body awareness
- Stay calm and problem-solve under pressure
- Learn takedowns, positional control, escapes, and submissions
- Build confidence through real skill development
And you’ll do it alongside other women who are learning and improving with you.
Meet Coach Courtney
Jiu-Jitsu Is a Family Affair
Coach Courtney is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt—and when we say Jiu-Jitsu runs in her family, we mean it. Her husband, Rase, is also a Jiu-Jitsu black belt. Her father is a black belt, and her mother is a brown belt.
Courtney brings years of experience on the mats and a deep connection to the Jiu-Jitsu community to Growth Mindset Collective.
As the instructor for our Women’s Jiu-Jitsu program, Courtney is helping us create a place where women can learn legitimate Jiu-Jitsu, challenge themselves, develop their skills, and enjoy training alongside other women.
Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or you’ve been training for years, Coach Courtney is ready to welcome you.
Never Tried Jiu-Jitsu? Start Here.
You don’t need any martial arts experience to join us.
You also don’t need to get in shape first.
Jiu-Jitsu meets you where you are. You’ll learn techniques step by step and build your skills as you become more comfortable on the mat.
Your first class isn’t about proving anything.
It’s about showing up, learning something new, and discovering what you’re capable of.
No experience required.
More Than a Workout
Jiu-Jitsu can definitely get your heart rate up—but the reason so many people fall in love with it goes far beyond fitness.
Every class gives you a problem to solve.
How do you escape? How do you maintain control? How can you use leverage and positioning instead of relying on strength?
As you learn, you’re developing strength, conditioning, coordination, and mobility while also building a skill you can continue improving for years.
It’s exercise with a purpose.

Practical Self-Defense Skills
You’ll learn how to manage distance, maintain control, escape from difficult positions, get back to your feet, and use leverage when facing someone who may be larger or stronger.
Mastering Control and Distance
Self-defense is an important part of why we teach Jiu-Jitsu at Growth Mindset Collective.

Rather than relying only on memorized movements, Jiu-Jitsu gives you opportunities to practice techniques with a resisting training partner in a controlled environment.
Over time, those skills become something you understand—not just something you’ve been shown.

Women’s Jiu-Jitsu FAQ
Do I need Jiu-Jitsu experience?
No. Complete beginners are welcome. Coach Courtney will help you learn the fundamentals and build from there.
Do I need to be in shape before I start?
No. Start where you are. Jiu-Jitsu is an active class, but you don't need to reach a certain fitness level before trying it.
Is this only a self-defense class?
No. This is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class.
Practical self-defense is an important part of what we teach, but you’ll be learning Jiu-Jitsu as a complete martial art—including takedowns, positional control, escapes, submissions, and live training when appropriate.

Comfortable athletic clothing is fine for your first class. Avoid clothing with zippers, buttons, or anything that could scratch you or your training partners.
We'll help you with everything else when you arrive.
